Selling a business - what accounts?

HiI am selling a business and the buyer is paying part for stock and the rest for the business itself. The stock is easy to deal with (Sales - much reduced!!!), but I'm wondering how to transact the restInitially I put it all against the fixed assets, but the amount received is greater than the value of the assets (less depreciation). I'm thinking that I need to lump the 'extra' amount somewhere, but where?Any hints would be appreciatedPaulSee More
